Makerere University Leadership and MJAP Board Field Visit to the East Central Region

This week, we had the privilege of hosting the Makerere University leadership and the MJAP Board for a monitoring and engagement visit to the LPHS-EC project implementation sites in the East Central Region.

The visit provided an opportunity for the University leadership and Board members to assess the progress of LPHS-EC implementation, observe service delivery at the facility and community levels, and engage with program teams and key stakeholders. The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight, foster collaboration, and ensure the effective implementation of health interventions across the region.

As part of the visit, the team held a productive meeting with the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Assistant District Health Officer (ADHO), and the District Environmental Officer of Kamuli District. Discussions focused on the progress of health programs, health systems strengthening efforts, environmental health considerations, and opportunities for enhanced collaboration between local government and implementing partners.

The delegation also visited Bugembe Health Centre IV and Kamuli General Hospital, where they interacted with health workers and program staff, observed service delivery, and assessed the implementation of key interventions supported under the LPHS-EC program. The visits offered firsthand insights into program achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improving health outcomes within the region.

The field visit underscored the shared commitment of Makerere University, MJAP, district leadership, and health facilities to strengthening health systems, enhancing service delivery, and improving the wellbeing of communities across the East Central Region.
