Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) is private-not-for-profit company limited by guarantee under Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS), working towards consolidation of the model for provision of the full continuum of HIV/AIDS and TB prevention, care and treatment services whilst contributing to national health systems strengthening for delivery of quality services.
MJAP supports the provision of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in Mulago, and Butabika National Teaching Referral Hospitals and Makerere University Hospital.

MJAP MISSION: To build partnerships and strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB and other diseases of public health importance in Africa.
Since 2004, MJAP has grown to be a leader in the provision and scaling up of HCT, Basic HIV/AIDS care, TB/HIV integrated services.
Provided & monitored sub-grants to Mbarara District, Makerere University-John’s Hopkins University collaboration, Makerere University & Butabika Hospitals.
Established two one-stop center HIV clinics for the provision of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services to key populations
Supported accreditation of three labs in Strengthening Laboratories Management Towards Accreditation (SLMTA)
Trained more than 13,996 workers; supported facilities to recruit health workers
MJAP has a strong track record providing comprehensive HIV services in different regions of Uganda with over 15 years’ experience in 23 districts, the two national referral hospitals and seven regional referral hospitals in the country.
Integrated Facility – Community Services
MJAP actively engages people living with HIV ‘expert clients’ (including key population leaders/ peers, HIV positive peer mothers and adolescent peers), Village Health Teams, community-based and civil society organizations, to provide holistic HIV and related services.
The MJAP supported ISS clinic, which is the largest HIV clinic in Uganda is a hub for implementation science research and some of our senior management staff are involved in implementation science research.
Integrated HIV/Hypertension Treatment
Statistics show that about 25 percent of adults in Uganda have hypertension. The numbers are as high as 29 percent among adults living with HIV who are on Antiretroviral Treatment (ART).
