There is compelling evidence that Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) reduces the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men by approximately 60%.
MJAP recognizes the fact that VMMC provides only partial protection, and therefore provides this as part of a comprehensive HIV prevention package which includes: the provision of HIV testing and counseling services; treatment for sexually transmitted infections; the promotion of safer sex practices; the provision of condoms and promotion of their correct and consistent use.
MJAP supports the provision of VMMC services at Makerere University hospital in Kampala. We also conduct VMMC community outreaches at higher institutions of learning, communal places like markets and offices.
