Strengthening PATC3H-IN Community Engagement: Community Advisory Board (CAB)

Community Advisory Boards (CABs) are essential in research processes, bridging the gap between researchers and communities to ensure studies are ethical, culturally sensitive, and responsive to local needs. CABs foster trust, enhance participant engagement, and provide insights that shape research design and implementation.

Implementation Science thrives on the active involvement of both the community and stakeholders. The PATC3H-IN project CAB members have been crucial in supporting our project activities aimed at improving youth HIV prevention and care. For the completed AIM ONE data collection, CAB members support participant identification and mobilization for In-Depth Interviews and Focus Group Discussions, enabling the project to capture a diverse range of experiences and perspectives. They also helped secure accessible and comfortable venues, ensuring a confidential and open environment for dialogue.

The CAB has strengthened the inclusivity of PATC3H-IN and aligned our proposed interventions with the actual needs of young people at risk for HIV. Their involvement highlights the importance of community partnerships in generating meaningful, community-centered research outcomes.
