Two of the greatest challenges a laboratory network faces are the safe transportation of specimens and the long turnaround time for test results.
To address this, we today handed over essential safety gear to laboratory hub riders to strengthen safe sample transportation and ultimately improve patient care.
With support from the U.S. Department of State, MJAP deploys laboratory hub riders to enhance health service delivery by transporting samples such as viral load, Early Infant Diagnosis (EID), and TB specimens as well as test results between health facilities and laboratories. This intervention significantly reduces turnaround times and improves timely clinical decision-making.
The safety equipment handed over includes riding helmets, abrasion-resistant riding jackets, motorcycle-specific gloves, armored riding pants, and over-the-ankle boots, among other protective gear.
